The brief

Genre Jukebox came to Shotlist as a game idea: an improv singing game where you draw a cue word and a genre, then sing five words of a song before your 15 seconds are up. It needed an identity that could make strangers want to grab the mic.

The insight

The audience isn't music nerds chasing trivia points. They're the friends at game night, the girls trip, the bachelorette party, people who swore they wouldn't do karaoke. Most music games test what you know. This one asks you to perform, and the brand had to make being terrible feel like the best part.

The idea

The right note is optional. The commitment is not. The identity is built like the friend who talks you into karaoke when you swore you wouldn't: retro disco energy, loud color, and stickers slapped on everything, so the stage feels like an invitation, not a test.

The system

Logo

A logotype that's already on the dance floor

A modern take on retro disco lettering, all movement and rhythm. The secondary sticker logo adds a bold outline for the moments the brand turns up the personality. It works in any brand color, on light or dark.

Typography

One voice that shouts, one that keeps it clear

Obviously handles the headlines, compressed to extended, bold enough to steal the spotlight; Instrument Sans carries the rules and body copy so nobody's squinting at the instructions mid-song.
