The situation

What wasn't working

Genre Jukebox is an improv singing game: draw a cue word, draw a genre, sing five words of a song before 15 seconds run out. The brand was loud, playful and built around one idea, that the right note is optional and the commitment is not. It needed a Shopify store that felt the same way.

That mattered because nobody buys a party game from a spec sheet. A visitor has to get the rules, picture their friends playing, and want in, even before sales open. So the site had to explain the game in seconds and turn that curiosity into waitlist signups.

Objectives

What success needed to look like

01

Explain the game in three steps, so anyone gets it before they scroll.

02

Carry the brand's retro disco color, type and sticker illustrations onto every page.

03

Turn curiosity into waitlist signups at every decision point.

04

Build it on Shopify, ready to flip from waitlist to checkout the day sales open.

Execution

Homepage

Opens with "Steal the spotlight" and gets straight to the rules: draw a cue, draw a genre, the stage is yours.

Product page

The box, what's inside it and a waitlist button in place of add to cart, so the store is ready to sell the moment sales open.

About & how to play

The story behind the game, an interactive how-to-play and an FAQ that answers the big one first: no, you don't need to be good at singing.

Impact

Oct 2026

Launched and live on Shopify, building a waitlist ahead of first sales.

The site launched in October and is building the Genre Jukebox waitlist before sales open, so the stage is set for day one.
